The HL-R6768W, Samsung’s 67-inch DLP TV

[Archived in Entry, Samsung]

http://www.tvsnob.com [TV Snob.com - The weblog for exclusive news & reviews of tvs and tv technology. lcd tv, plasma, hdtv, dlp, portable tv, flat cr] I wish I had a living room large enough to hold a 67" TV. Maybe I can finish the basement to have another location for a GIANT TV in the house. The HL-R6768W, Samsung’s 67-inch DLP TV - Engadget - www.engadget.com / : Samsung announced something like twenty new TVs yesterday, including six new LCDs, but the real biggie (both literally and figuratively) is the HL-R678W, a new 67-incher which supposedly ranks as the world’s largest DLP TV (and we’re inclined to believe them). Better still, the HL-R6768W rocks the 1080p, which is more or less the holy grail for HDTVs (at least when it comes to resolution), built-in NTSC and ATSC tuners, dual HDMI inputs, and support for CableCARD. Should hit stores inJune with an MSRP of $6,199...

Some slightly related:

[Mobile Phone Fan] Overpromoting: Contrary to many other news websites, that nobody knows outside of their local area (like: UK, or USA) the msmobiles.com portal is known and read globally - not just in USA, UK and EU but also in Asia - several times during conferences and trade shows (in which Mobile Phone Fan participates personally in most cases! unlike other writers, who report about them theoretically) it came out that major managers from Samsung, Microsoft and Motorola are actually reading msmobiles.com regularly! On the other hand also people at HTC in Taiwan - the biggest manufacuter also read msmobiles.com and current success of HTC is possible due to criticism of HTC in past that msmobiles.com published about HTC! It was happening in past that PR of HTC was demanding removal of stories about HTC from msmobiles.com and were told (by Mobile Phone Fan) to “correct this and this problems in their products, instead of whining that press treats them badly".

Engadget - www.engadget.com /[Engadget - www.engadget.com /] CTIA highlights: After several long days and even longer nights, Ryan and I finally got back from the big CTIA wireless trade show in New Orleans late yesterday evening. Maybe not as many huge announcements as we might have hoped, but we did discover the hard way that stumbling around drunk and starting fights is perfectly acceptable activity on Bourbon Street, but is not such a cool thing to do on the floor of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (new rule for all future Engadget trade show coverage: always carry bail money).

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
