Product Features:
  • 22 Inch LCD (TFT)
  • 852 X 480 VGA
  • 430 cd/m brightness
  • 16:9 Aspect Ratio
  • 170 degree viewing

Product Description:

Offering the latest state-of-the-art ASV (Advanced Super View) panel, Sharp's 22-inch LC-22SV6U AQUOS flat-panel LCD television delivers great-looking images--and its 16:9 aspect ratio is the perfect dimension for viewing your favorite movies in their original widescreen dimensions. This is an EDTV screen, which means it's a step closer to high-definition or HDTV than standard TVs. When used with a progressive-scan DVD player (or 480p-output DTV set-top box) you'll get seamless, razor-sharp images from your favorite movies and concert videos. The TV features an enhanced contrast ratio (500:1) and high brightness (430 cd/m2), providing black blacks and vivid, crisp colors with brilliant clarity. Proprietary QS (Quick Shoot) technology increases the pixel response time, effectively reducing any visual lag resulting from fast-motion scenes. Sharp's proprietary Black TFT low-reflection coating cuts down on glare in bright-light conditions, so--no matter where you place the TV--its picture quality will be unaffected by nearby windows or skylights. Further, the set boasts broad, 170-degree viewing angles offer clear viewing from practically anywhere in the room. AQUOS liquid crystal TVs offer many advantages over similar-sized plasma TVs, such as higher brightness, no risk of burn-in, wider viewing angles, and a slimmer, lighter chassis. The LC-22SV6U also offers long lamp life (60,000 hours) and low power consumption: it uses just 69 watts, about 60 percent less power than comparably sized CRT (cathode-ray tube) direct-view televisions. An electronic PLL tuner handles over-air reception of TV programming, while component-, composite-, and S-video inputs accommodate everything from DVD players to VCRs, camcorders, and gaming consoles. A single composite-video output (switchable with 1 of the set's 4 composite-video inputs) can feed a DVR, DVD recorder, VCR, or camcorder. For audio, a pair of 2-way speakers each powered by 5 watts provide clear midrange and high frequencies so you can enjoy live concert DVDs and other programs to the fullest (switch the screen off for audio-only enjoyment). A left/right pair of analog audio outputs (similarly switchable with 1 of 4 inputs) let you hook the monitor up to your receiver or integrated amplifier. The set even offers a pair of high-level speaker outputs in case you want to use it with your own speakers instead of with those supplied with the TV. If you don't plan to use an integrated amplifier or surround receiver as a go-between, just be sure the LC-22SV6U's 5 watts per channel will be sufficient to drive the speakers you have in mind. The set's 1-bit digital-audio amplifier and detachable speakers (located at the bottom of the screen) offer more design flexibility when positioning the set. With the supplied stand or with optional mounting brackets, you can hang the TV can on a wall or place it on a bookshelf or other flat surface. Weighing in at less than 20 pounds, the LC-22SV6U is easy to position and reposition. And, with the LC-22SV6U's NTSC, PAL, and SECAM compatibility, you can watch video sources from the U.S., Western Europe, and Eastern Europe, and all will appear properly formatted. The screen offers 854 x 480 (wide VGA) resolution. What's in the Box TV, table stand, remote control, remote batteries, 1 RF coaxial audio/video cable, an AC power cord, an AC power adapter, 2 cable clamps, a user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

Bought this TV on the spur of the moment and loved that it was totally easy to set up. It has a very simple menu, has great speakers and is all around a wonderful tv. Very bright and crisp picture (even with analog cable).

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
