Product Description:

Building on the cosmetic and technical prowess of its high-end Scenium televisions, RCA's 30-inch LCDX3022W LCD TV is ready to render the best of yesterday's analog TV signals and the highest-resolution of today's high-definition digital feeds. The screen itself is a mere quarter of an inch wide, and RCA's Bi-Sonic speakers flank the widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) display for spacious sound with wide stereo separation. The set's 170-degree viewing angles ensure amazing picture quality from virtually any location, so the whole family can savor the set's rich images. The LCDX3022W's CinemaScreen high-gloss black chassis lets the set disappear into the darkness of your living room, leaving only the brilliant (500 cd/m2), high-contrast (500:1) screen for theaterlike nighttime movie viewing. With a native resolution of 1,280 x 768, the set is equipped to display both standard- and high-definition signals (480p, 720p, and 1080i). It uses built-in image scaling to fit 1080i signals to its progressively scanned 768 horizontal lines. A DVI-HDTV input provides a direct-digital connection to a digital set-top box or compatible PC, while the unit's integrated analog NTSC tuner lets you enjoy off-air TV and cable programs. LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference), long screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be cheaper and, to some eyes, slightly more natural looking than their plasma flat-panel counterparts, which usually "spec" higher (higher brightness, higher contrast ratio). The LCDX3022W includes state-of-the-art video processing with an image deinterlacer that converts analog signals to a progressive display, improving both resolution and image clarity. While not as fast as LCD sets come, the LCDX3022W's 25 millisecond response time will deliver smooth, seamless images from most video sources.
From the Manufacturer The LCDX3022W 30-inch HD-compatible LCD TV features an ultra-thin screen, with only a 1/4-inch-wide visible panel, and Bi-Sonic speakers located on both the left and right side of the screen. The three displays in the Bi-Sonic family are enhanced by Thomson's "floating picture" design concept prevalent in the RCA Scenium product line. The CinemaScreen high-gloss black borderless screen creates the illusion of a floating picture and visually brightens the picture, much like the screen in a dark... read more

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
