[Archived in Entry, HDTV, JVC]

http://www.hdbeat.com [HD Beat] JVC will intro a new HD camera in September that supports 720p recording. MiniDV and DV are supported storage methods, or your can utlize the FireWire connection and record to a hard drive for additional storage.

http://ask.engadget.com [Ask.engadget.com] Ask Engadget: Advice on buying a DVD camcorder? - Ask Engadget ...: Like some people have said, three CCD is the only way to go, as each CCD only captures one color,(Red, Green, or Blue) to allow for a better picture, as each CCD gets more information, where DVD camcorders only have one CCD, and the CD has to capture all of the information on one chip. Try to find a 3 CCD camera, 1/4 in CCD's or bigger would be my recommendation.

Camcorderinfo.com[Camcorderinfo.com] JVC GR-HD1 First Impressions Camcorder Review - JVC Camcorders ...: 1CCD for same sensor size and technology level, and taking other compromises into account (the damned "megapixel" bragging rights on non-HD units, plus smaller sensors), you could have 3CCD with inferior low light performance - just compare the 1/4.7" 3CCD Sony 950 and the 1/6" 3CCD Panny to Sony's older 1/4" small pixel count CCD models e.g.

Scienceblog.comhttp://www.scienceblog.com [Scienceblog.com] Science Blog - Science Gifts - JVC HMDH40000U D-VHS HDTV Digital ...: Using special D-VHS tapes with a 50 GB of capacity, you can record up to 3.5 hours of high-quality video and Dolby Digital audio. Features include 5.1-channel Digital Dolby audio, FireWire/iLink connectivity, VCR Plus+ instant timer programming, and playback of D-Theater prerecorded movies.

Videosystems.com[Videosystems.com] jvc - JY-HD10 GR-HD1 - JYHD10 - GRHD1 - dv - hd camcorder - camera ...: The JY-HD10employs a 1.18-megapixel CCD (effective 1.14 megapixels) that provides840,000 pixels, rather than the 921,600-pixel image normally used for720p. Thus, a CCD row has only about 1,166 elements, which isreasonable given that the necessary (for a single-CCD camera) opticaland electrical antialiasing filters limit effective horizontalresolution.

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
