Product Description:

One of the first of a new generation of high-definition, rear-projection televisions, JVC's 61-inch HD-61Z575 widescreen LCoS TV is based on the company's D-ILA (Direct-Drive Image Light Amplifier) microdisplay device, the highest-density microdisplay device available in 2004. The D-ILA rear-projection TV is fully high-definition compatible, offering 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution and a 0.7-inch D-ILA device in a 3-chip design. The set also features JVC's Four-Point Color Management system and its exclusive Digital Image Scaling Technology (DIST), which upconverts incoming signals to deliver sharp, vivid images. The 3-chip structure of JVC's D-ILA chip has the ability to continuously reproduce a flicker- and burn-free picture. In addition, an invisible pixel structure prevents color or motion artifacts, and a true analog gray scale provides outstanding gradations of black. For reliability, it uses an optical-stable inorganic alignment layer. DIST upconverts all 480i and 480p signals to 720p using a JVC-exclusive algorithm. Jagged lines inherent in source signals are smoothed, vertical resolution gets enhanced. JVC's Four-Point Color Management delivers vivid colors by selecting 4 points from the color spectrum and separately adjusting each. HD DSD (Digital Super Detail) edge enhancement is active on still-, fast-, and slow-motion areas of the picture for crisp, defined edges. Other features include Dynamic Gamma Control Circuitry, TheaterPro 6500K color temperature, Digital Noise Clear circuitry, an interactive plug-in menu, XDS ID display, and Natural Cinema 3-2 pulldown reversal (with on/off capability) for all telecine sources. JVC's unique "Natural Progressive" picture improvement technologies optimize signal quality before a picture reaches the screen. Natural Progressive technology doubles the image data in each field and uses advanced 3D interpolation to display a solid image with no noticeable scan lines and to eliminate jagged edge noise and image trails. An HDMI-compatible input with HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) offers an uncompressed digital connection for the transmission and display of high-definition audio/video programs. The set also includes dual auto-sensing component-video inputs, assuring the best possible picture quality from DTV, D-VHS or DVD, as well as 3 S-Video inputs and 4 composite-video-based AV inputs. Front-panel AV inputs (including S-video) simplify hookups with camcorders or other video devices. The HD-61Z575 receives not only stereo broadcasts, but Second Audio Programming (or SAP), too, and you always have Advanced Hyper Surround to simulate surround sound from any 2 speakers. BBE High-Definition Audio improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages. JVC's AV CompuLink III simplifies operation with other JVC audio and video products, and an NTSC tuner offers split-screen and multi-screen PIP viewing.

With JVC Digital Image Scaling Technology and its Four-Point Color Management system, images are sharper, deeper, brighter than virtually any other rear-projection TV. In theory, it delivers a clear and film-like picture with "true black" level and faithful reproduction of black gradation.61-inch 16:9 widescreen, rear-projection HDTV display Built-in NTSC TV tuner (HDTV requires optional tuner or HD Cable TV subscription) 1280 x 720-pixel resolution results from three-chip, high-density D-ILA design Digital Image Scaling Technology (D.I.S.T.) upscales signals to 720p Four-Point Color Management Natural Cinema 3:2 pulldown HD-DSD edge correction 1TU, Split, Index, Freeze PIP 3D Y/C comb filter with YNR Digital Noise Clear Circuit Black level correction Onscreen video adjustment Hyper Surround 3D sound Aspect modes include 16:9, panorama, full, cinema zoom HDMI/HDCP output JVC Warranty: 1 Year Parts / 1 Year Labor -In Home ServiceUnit Dimensions WHD: 57 3/8"x41 1/8"x18 5/8"/ Weight: 98 lbs

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
