Cablecard 2.0 coming to you HDTV next year

atmaspheric | endeavors[atmaspheric | endeavors] Cablecard delivers a superior picture (no cable box compression) and the 2.0 version will give you two-way control so you won’t need a box for VOD or enhanced services if your provider supports this function. It’s also good news for third party DVR makers like TIVO and will hopefully be the path to HDTV on HTPC’s like MCE.

Microsoft reveals Xbox 360 line-up | The Register

The Blackfriars Bloghttp://www.blackfriarsinc.com/blog [The Blackfriars Blog] Microsoft said it would only confirm three titles for XBox 360's launch in Europe: Kameo: Elements of Power and Perfect Dark Zero by Rare, a UK-based games maker owned by Microsoft, and Project Gotham Racing 3 from the game studio Blizzard Creations. Now to be fair, there are other games that are nearing completion that are being held up by ratings reviewers, but it just shows the challenge of trying to launch a new platform on an aggressive schedule to beat out a competitor.

15% of American homes have a HDTV

http://www.hdbeat.com [HD Beat] Using analog cable I'm perfectly happy as long as it isn't the digital crap I'm getting from my cable company. I can't see anything new with HDTV, such as beads of sweat or anything with sports (not that I watch sports other than HD comparison)

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
