Fox Plans 2 HDTV Channels

[Archived in Entry, HDTV]

[HDBlog.net] Not only is Fox collaborating with National Geographic to make a National Geographic HD channel, but they’re also creating Fox HD. Fox HD will include programming from several Fox channels.

Some related posts from Technorati and Google.

[HDBlog.net] National Geographic in HD: The National Geographic Channel is going HD, and they’re teaming up with Fox to do it. Their collaboration is set to hit the airwaves in early 2006.

Multichannel.com[Multichannel.com] Multichannel News: The Cable Industry Book-of-Record: Davis, Baldinger to Read Playbook NFL Network said former Cleveland Browns head coach Butch Davis and veteran Fox broadcaster Brian Baldinger will join the lineup for its strategy show, Playbook.

Kinja.comhttp://kinja.com [Kinja.com] Kinja, the weblog guide: While President Bush's critics often use his vacations to portray him as an absentee president -- he has taken more than 300 days in less than five years -- the Wall Street Journal notes that "a captive press corps and a slow summer news cycle are allowing him to use the Crawford backdrop to push his agenda far from the distractions of Washington."

http://blogs.sun.com [Blogs.sun.com] Rich Burridge's Blog : Weblog: It's in February and they are being covered by Fox but being simulcast in HD (High Definition). We recently bought an HD TV and anybody who has watched sports coverage in HD will know there is a marked difference over the "old" resolution.

Hometheaterblog.com[Hometheaterblog.com] Home Theater Blog | Home Theater news & reviews: Voom News Archives: Now on one hand the nay-sayers would surely point to this as the end for Voom, however I doubt it will be as simple as that, for one those long running rumors of a Dish-Network merger haven’t really been squashed or confirmed, and the timing of the suspended spin-off seems odd considering Voom’s announcement of increased channel capacity. Call me pollyanna but this might actually be good news instead of gloom, perhaps announcement of a merger or some other ”˜trump-card’ is in the works.

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
