DirecTivo

„The three-satellite oval dish and one Philips DSR7000. I picked the three-satellite dish over the regular one-satellite dish because it supports all of the local stations in every market (in case I ever move), plus HDTV broadcasts for when I upgrade the TV (note that the Tivo doesn't record HDTV, and the first units that do won't come out until later this year, but then they'll only be able to pack in about 8 hours!) Another reason I like the dish is that it has four outputs, of which the Tivo takes two. So with that one dish I could hook up one Tivo and two regular receivers, or two Tivos, or whatever combination (you can't just split the satellite signal with a normal cable splitter).“

„DISHPlayer 500 is the only digital satellite TV system that gives you the ultimate freedom to watch what you want when you want to watch it. With DISH Network programming, you get the most digital TV channels and choices. Plus, you get the ability to pause, replay and instantly record your favorite movies, sports and sitcoms without the hassle of videotapes. In addition, for those of you who want to access the Internet and send and receive E-mails right from your TV, DISHPlayer 500 has a 56k-capable modem that gives you the option to subscribe to WebTV Plus Interactive service.“http://www.epinions.com/.../ display_~full_specs - Cached
„Tivo also needs a high-def recording option. I have the new HLP6163W 61" Samsung DLP hi-def TV, but if I want to see a television signal in hi-def I have to bypass Tivo and watch TV the horribly primitive pre-Tivo way. (I highly recommend the Samsung btw).“http://wizbangblog.com/archives/004320.php - Cached
