BenQ launches design-led TFT

[Archived in Entry]

[ www.techbay.net] BenQ is emphasising its new 17in TFT as a stylish display, boasting that it takes monitor design to another level. With a response time of 25ms, the FP72V is not aimed at gamers, but it works to an SXGA resolution of 1,280 x 1,024, has a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and can display up to 16.7 million colours, and allows a viewing angle of 178 degrees. The unit includes D-Sub, digital DVI-D ports and three USB 2.0 connectors. There is also BenQ’s Senseye technology for clear digital imaging, and there is a detachable web camera for remote communications...

Some slightly related:

Recongoddess[Recongoddess] 17 inch of quality from BenQ... The BenQ FP72V: BenQ has recently launched the model FP72V, the response of your quest for quality. How else to call the Senseye technology which allows the automatic adjusting of contrast and luminosity according to light conditions from the room? Besides this, you get an excellent contrast rate, 1000:1, and an 178 degree visibility angle regardless of the way you look: horizontally or vertically.

[Krunker] BenQ FP72V: BenQ announced a new LCD Monitor called the FP72V. This new monitor includes support for BenQ’s new Senseye technology. You can read more about Senseye here at BenQ’s website but it’s basically a new digital image enhancement technology that improves image quality.

[Displays - displays.engadget.com /] BenQ’s FP72V 17-inch monitor >: We got to take a gander at BenQ’s FP72V monitor at CES, but it looks like the display is only now making it out to market—lucky us! A quick refresher: it’s the one with Senseye, that ambient-light sensing auto-contrast / brightness control system; it’s also got a 1000:1 contrast ratio, integrated USB 2.0 hub, and attachable speakers and webcam. We might like if they’d take it upon themselves to break out a 17-inch screen that’s not merely SXGA (1280 x 1024) but we’ll find a way to go on living.

[Displays - displays.engadget.com /] BenQ displays @ CES - Plasmas, LCDs, completely out of control: We were really into their new 17-inch FP72V display, which is a little busy looking but way more slick than almost anything else out there right now in the 4:3 aspect ratio arena. It too features Senseye, as well as a 1000:1 contrast ratio, SXGA resolution, an attachable webcam, speakers, and has D-Sub, DVI-D, and USB 2.0; it’ll hit in March for $600. Anyone else reminded of the Lluon? What, BenQ, you didn’t think we’d know?

HDTVs: Sharper, Bigger, Better

HDTVs have high resolutions that yield incredibly lifelike pictures, wide screens to accommodate the 16:9 aspect ratio of HD programming and DVD movies, and Dolby Digital decoding for theater-quality audio. Here are the choices--flat-panel or projection, you can't go wrong.

Flat-panel LCD TVs: LCD flat-panels offer bright, crisp picture quality, are highly energy-efficient, have 60,000-hour life spans, and come in a range of screen sizes, though all under 50 inches.

Flat-panel plasma TVs: Plasma flat-panels have extremely accurate picture detail, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and large, wall-mountable screens--from 37 to over 60 inches.

Projection TVs: Your big-screen choices are CRT, LCD, DLP, and LCoS. The first two are tried-and-true technologies; DLP and LCoS are hot microdisplay technologies that provide superb picture detail and brightness in lighter-weight cabinets.
